Annual OSFA Women's Auxilary Convention
While at convention each year we enjoy the opportunity to meet new members and get reacquainted with those we haven't seen since last convention. It is a wonderful time to share with those of our extended firefighter families. Convention is different each year and we never know what to expect but that's what makes it fun. Business is the reason for convention but fun is the result. There are usually different activities that take place each year but you can just about always count on a ladies luncheon, memorial service, banquet, dance, MDA picnic, and then there are the unexpected eventsl Depending on who is hosting the convention, they always have something a little different thrown in there to entertain us. The ladies meetings usually consist of auxiliary business and reports. We also take time out to announce the recipient of the scholarship award from OSU, our Woman of the Year, new auxiliaries, and new members. Member auxiliaries are also encouraged, but not required, to bring their scrapbooks and annual reports to share with the others present. During convention we also elect a new Junior Board Member. If at some point you or one of your members is interested in running for the executive board, you must meet the requirements outlined in the state By-laws. Above all else, the convention is a great place to make new friends with those that share a love for a firefighter.
We hope the information in this literature has helped you to get a start on what you will soon find is a very rewarding endeavor. We look forward to your newly formed local auxiliary becoming a part of the OSFA Women’s Auxiliary. Always remember we are here to help if you need us.
