Pete & Lela Stavros Scholarship

Stavros Scholarship

Created in 2002 by Pete Stavros, former OSFA Legislative Director, the Pete & Lela Stavros Scholarship offers children and relatives of active or retired Oklahoma firefighters who are members of the OSFA help with college expenses.

Scholarship Award for 2012 - $600
Scholarship Application Deadline for 2012 - postmarked no later than April 15


Application Criteria
A child or relative of an active or retired member of the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association. Prior winners are not eligible to re-apply.

If the link fails, go to www.occf.org and position your cursor on Scholarship Center at the top of the page and choose Directory. Click on S in the alphabet listing and then choose Pete and Lela Stavros Scholarship from the S listing.
Download all forms listed on the scholarship page, as there are special instructions and deadlines for each form.

Deadline
All scholarship materials must be postmarked by April 15. Mail to Pete and Lela Stavros Scholarship, c/o OSFA, 2716 N.E. 50th Street, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73111.

Recipients will be notified by mail and the scholarships will be disbursed during a special ceremony at the annual OSFA Convention.

Receiving $500 college scholarships through the Pete & Lela Stavros Scholarship Foundation
at the 117th annual OSFA Convention were:

Jordan Gaither, Davidson High School (daughter of James Gaither Jr., Frederick FD)
Danielle Logan, Fort Supply High School (daughter of Marty Logan, Ret. Woodward FD)
Jacey Wallace, Hugo High School (daughter of Patrick Wallace, Hugo FD)
Holly Wilson, Broken Arrow High School (daughter of Brian Wilson, Broken Arrow FD)

On hand to congratulate the recipients was Pete Stavros, who retired from the Oklahoma City Fire Department after 31 years of service and was the OSFA Legislative Director in the 1980s and '90s.

Jarred Stockton of Mangum, sponsored by his step-father, Kent Gambill.  Jarred planned to attend OU and study physical therapy.

Joseph Boak of Beggs, sponsored by his father, Evert Boak.  Joseph planned to attend OSU and study civil engineering.
