Faith Filled Followers—More Than a Cookbook is designed to enlighten the mind, feed the body, and nourish the soul. This book is divided into three sections. The first section, “Tidbits from Suriname,” encompasses the purpose of our keepsake cookbook, which is to raise funds for our Suriname, South American Ministry. We are blessed to have men and women from First Baptist Church of Lexington, who are willing to carry the gospel to the heart of the jungle and befriend a people who otherwise would have no school, decent housing or a place of worship. Those who have participated in the annual trips there have kept detailed journals, giving the reader a glimpse into the life and culture lived in a rainforest, surrounded by danger and voodoo worshiping villages. Many photos are included.

The center section, “Food for the Body” makes up about 2/3 of the book. These are cherished recipes from past and present church members, sure to be delectable and easy to prepare.

And last is “Nourishment for the Soul,” encouraging testimonies and inspirational stories from our church members and others from our region. There are times in life when we are tested, or have experienced answered prayers. God asks that we place our faith and trust in Him.

There is also an added bonus in the front of the book, a CD recording from our celebrated church choir entitled, “Bow the Knee.” It is an inspirational musical program our church has performed many times, always drawing large crowds from churches throughout this region.
